Courses
CCM West London is affiliated to the College of Chinese Medicine (CCM) London and runs professional training, as well as CPD courses in TCM, acupuncture, acupressure massage and other therapeutic aspects of Oriental and alternative medicine. All the courses are taught part-time (weekends) in small groups with a lot of personal supervision and guidance. Emphasis is firmly placed on professional education based in clinical practice, where theoretical understanding, practical skills and attitudinal development underpin every aspect of the learning and teaching process.
The College of Chinese Medicine was founded in 1992. It was established to promote the development and education of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine therapies in the United Kingdom, and to preserve and further develop its professional standing and integration into modern health care practice. The College is dedicated to the education of high calibre Acupuncture & TCM professionals who are proficient in modern western medical sciences as well as traditional Chinese theory.

The course provides professional training in acupuncture, diagnosis and traditional Chinese medicine that prepares students for modern professional life. It combines theory and practice to ensure that students are proficient in traditional Chinese medicine and Acupuncture, as well as adequately versed in modern Western medical sciences,. Emphasis is placed on developing students as competent and confident therapists with a caring and compassionate attitude.
The course is run on a part-time basis over a period of two years. Classes are held over 10 3-day weekends per year.

This is a part-time 3 months level-1 Foundation course in TCM and acupuncture. The course is designed to serve as a theoretical foundation for students with an interest in Oriental medicine and acupuncture or students who wish to deepen their TCM and acupuncture knowledge. The course also

This is a post-graduate course composed of a TCM and Acupuncture Theory Foundation Module (9 lecture days) and a Special Orthopaedic Acupuncture Module (8 lecture days) with additional 4 clinical practice days and a re- validation day. The TCM and Acupuncture Theory foundation Module leads to a Foundation Diploma in TCM and Acupuncture Level-1. The Orthopaedic Acupuncture module is designed in such a way that it can either be completed as a whole, or each of the 8 lectures can be taken as a CPD unit for therapist with special interests in the specific areas of the body.
The course is specifically designed as an advanced, intensive course for acupuncturists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and other physical therapists who wish to broaden their knowledge and further their skills. The emphasis of the course falls on the practical application of acupuncture as a treatment for a variety of MSK conditions.
Auricular Acupuncture for Drug &Alcohol Rehabilitation and Stress Management

The course is based on 2 seven-hour sessions. The course centres on a specialised treatment that is used to control symptoms of tension, irritability, hypersensitivity, anxiety, depression and other states of functional and nervous imbalance associated with withdrawal of opiates, nicotine and alcohol as well as stress. The emphasis of the course falls on the practical application of auricular acupuncture for alcohol and drug rehabilitation and stress management. It covers how to assess if auricular acupuncture is suitable, how to diagnose patient’s needs, plan and discuss the treatment and obtain consent. It focuses on how to accurately locate and effectively needle ear points.
Auricular Acupuncture for MSK and Pain Conditions

The course comprises of 70 study hours - 4 seven-hour contact sessions and further 42 hours home study. It runs on 4 days (two weekends) over 1 month period. It is designed as a postgraduate Certificate course for acupuncture, massage and other physical therapists, who want to broaden their knowledge and further their skills. The course is level-2 course and is open for level-1 Auricular therapists with sufficient (ITEC level 3 or equivalent) Anatomy & Physiology knowledge and interest in MSK medicine.
The emphasis of the course falls on the practical application of auricular acupuncture for MSK pain conditions – how to locate the ear points and how to needle them. This is a level-2 auricular acupuncture course. It includes a short theoretical lecture during the first session, which covers basic anatomy of the ear, general concepts of TCM and auricular therapy, health and safety issues and contraindications for auricular acupuncture. The remainder of the course concentrates on practical work – accurately selecting, locating and needling the auricular points used for MSK pain conditions. Developing good acupuncture technique will enable students to practice in this specialised area of auricular therapy with confidence.
Advanced Acupressure Massage

The course is based on 15 contact sessions (9.30am to 5.30pm) over six months (once a month). It is designed as an advanced, intensive course for massage therapists and other physical therapists, who want to broaden their knowledge and further their skills. The emphasis of the course falls on the practical application of acupressure massage as treatment for variety of musculo-skeletal conditions.
The course includes a general theoretical TCM and Acupuncture foundation module and a practical Acupressure massage module. The Theoretical module runs trough the first nine sessions (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) providing sufficient knowledge and understanding of the Acupuncture Meridian System and the points used in acupressure for common musculo- skeletal problems, as well as practical diagnosis of common pathology and therapeutic principals of TCM and acupressure. The remainder of the course (six sessions running Saturday and Sunday) covers the specific treatment for each of the different areas of the body with demonstration, explanation and individual practical work.
Acupuncture Meridian Stretch

The course is based on three 7-hour sessions over a three-day weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) It is designed as a postgraduate advanced CPD course for acupuncture, massage and other physical therapists and personal trainers who want to broaden their knowledge and further their skills. The course is also suitable for athletes, martial artists and anyone with an interest in sport and fitness, who wants to deepen his/hers understanding of the function of the musclulo-skeletal system and enhance their training.
The course includes a two-day theoretical part and a one-day practical session. The first theory session covers the principle concepts of the Acupuncture meridian system, focusing on the precise pathways of the meridians in respect to the skeletal muscles, as well as the specific functions
of the different meridian muscle groups. The second-day session of the course covers the different functional types of stretching and their underlying physiological mechanisms. It focuses on the practical application of the principles and methods of stretching in the regulation of the acupuncture meridians and their respective muscles. The third practical session covers specific stretches for each of the different areas of the body with demonstration, explanation and individual practical work.

These are one-day seminars/workshops (10am-5pm) for acupuncture, massage and other physical and sports therapists and personal trainers who want to broaden their knowledge and further their skills. They are designed to fulfil the CPD requirements set by the Acupuncture Society and other professional organisations.
The seminars include a morning theoretical part and a practical afternoon
workshop. The theory session covers the principle musculo-skeletal anatomy in relation to the Acupuncture meridians and the common pathological patterns of the area, focusing on their aetiology, diagnosis and treatment. The practical afternoon workshop involves working in pairs performing palpation diagnosis of the different muscles in the different areas and their common trigger points. It also covers acupressure stimulation of the relevant muscle local and distal acupuncture points.
